He completed clinical electives and a research fellowship at Georgetown University, Washington DC, as well as an internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He then completed a fellowship in Electrophysiology at the Lahey Clinic, Tufts University Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Dr. Sood is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, and holds Certifications in Echocardiography, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiovascular disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. He specializes in the field of Electrophysiology.

Dr. Sood has worked at Southcoast Health for over a decade and has been involved with many seminal clinical research studies in the field of Electrophysiology. He was a principal investigator and author on Cryoablation for atrial fibrillation ablation published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2020. This led to class 1 indication for ablation as an upfront strategy in the management of atrial fibrillation. Dr. Sood was also Investigator and co-author on the PIVOTAL STUDY, the first FDA IDE clinical study on Pulse Field Ablation as a technology for atrial fibrillation ablation that led to its approval as an energy source for AFIB Ablation.

He specializes in Complex Atrial and Ventricular arrhythmia ablations including Hybrid surgical ablations, Cardiac Implantable Devices, Cardioneural Ablation for Syncope, Laser Lead Extraction and Leadless device implants.
